Jack & Jill Family Camp occurs in mid-July every summer. New campers can ask to be added to our data base by submitting a “Contact Us” form at any time.
- First, follow these instructions to whitelist our email (both admin@jackandjillfamilycamp.org and admin@jackandjillfamilycamp.com) so you don’t miss correspondence from us. We will eventually sunset admin@jackandjillfamilycamp.com.
- We have an automated registration process, which 1) allows us to efficiently collect camper payments and information 2) makes sure we account for every registration and 3) makes sure everyone receives the same information The process starts with paying a $500 Quickbooks deposit invoice. If you ask to pay any other way ( e.g. cash, check, paypal, zelle, venmo, etc..) other than settling that $500 Quickbooks invoice, you risk falling outside of our automated workflow and getting lost. If you pay outside of our automation, we are not responsible for any subsequent discrepancies and your registration is NOT guaranteed.
- Families in our database will receive a registration announcement in late January / early February. They will also see the announcement in our bimonthly newsletter. Once you receive the registration announcement, follow the instructions to receive your $500 Quickbooks deposit invoice. Cabins are reserved on a first come first served basis. Paying your deposit holds a spot for your family, but DOES NOT reserve a specific cabin.
- If you are NOT in our database, mark “YES” to the new camper question on the “begin registration form”. We LOVE new campers! Please tells who referred you. We love giving credit to our existing campers. If you found us another way, please share some details on how you found us and why you are interested in Jack & Jill Family Camp. While you may be tempted to leave some fields blank, doing so may delay us adding you to our database. If you feel time has passed and you have still not received information from us, try completing the form again with more details.
- After you pay your $500 deposit, you will receive an automated email with a link to complete your registration form. This is where you tell us about your family, including how many campers you will have, the ages of your children, t-shirt sizes, and any dietary needs.
- Once we receive your completed registration form, we will send you another Quickbooks invoice with your final camp fee balance, net of the $500 deposit you paid. Final invoices are due at the end of April no matter when you complete your registration form.
- Each family pays a $100 non-refundable cleaning fee, which covers the cost to contract a professional cleaning team that completes a mid-week cleaning of all bathrooms while at camp plus our required final cleaning of the kitchen, dining hall, recreation hall, and all bathrooms at the close of camp. Campers are responsible for leaving their cabin clean. New campers’ invoices include an additional $100 cleaning deposit, which is refundable and can be returned if your cabin is left clean. Most campers plan to return and choose to roll this refundable deposit forward.
- After you pay your final balance invoice, you will receive the Welcome Letter and Camp Instructions. This letter includes arrival instructions and a suggested packing list.
- When you arrive at camp, you will receive your cabin assignment, KP assignment, t-shirts, pinewood derby cars, and final schedule.
- Cooperation is key to the success of camp! Family Camp is organized and run by a team of dedicated volunteers. In order to keep costs low and the activity level high, families assist in some camp activities. The most important is Kitchen Patrol Duty or “KP” Duty. Each family is scheduled to help with up to two meals during the week. KP Duty consists of setting up and serving the meal (cafeteria style) and helping with clean up. KP Duty DOES NOT mean cooking the meal. Our experienced Kitchen Crew does that. Several families are assigned to each shift/meal so the work is shared. It is usually more fun than work!
Beyond KP Duty, we ask parents to assist in activities in which their children participate, or just lend a hand when needed. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Your registration fees Include:
- 1 cabin for your family;
- Daily Meals (Sunday – Friday);
- 1 camp t-shirt for each camper;
- 1 pinewood derby car for each child 18 and under in your party;
- Group hike with Mendocino Woodlands Naturalist;
- Crafts; and
- Scheduled camp activities.
To help maintain affordable registration fees, we conduct an annual fundraiser through PG&E that launches on the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday and runs through Black History Month. The campaign is similar to a GoFundMe campaign, but it is on PG&E’s partner’s platform.
PG&E matches donations made on the platform dollar for dollar up to $5,000; so we raise $5,000 and we get $10,000.
We donate a portion of the proceeds to the Woodlands to support their mission. We keep the rest to maintain affordable registration fees. We have not raised our registration fees in a few years.
If you are able, please participate in this campaign. No dollar amount is too small.
